As it did last season, the Australian Grand Prix opens the 2009 Formula One year. However, the hunt for points does not begin until 29th March this year - the latest start to the season since 1988.
Missing from next season's race calendar are the well-recognised stops in Canada and France. In their place, Nick Heidfeld and Robert Kubica will be entering uncharted waters at the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix. The race in the United Arab Emirate will also conclude the 2009 Formula One season.
Unlike previously planned, the Chinese Grand Prix will not take place in October, but in April 2009 - just one week ahead of the Bahrain Grand Prix. The BMW Sauber F1 Team will once again compete in one night race: the Singapore Grand Prix.
