Cardiff travel to Manchester in the EDF Cup group match against Sale, with former fly half Nick Macleod making his first start for his new club at full back. Sale are fielding a weakened side for the match, while the Blues field a pretty good XV.

There's no Xavier Rush for Cardiff, but Ben Blair and Martyn Williams do return to the side, with Leigh Halfpenny moving to the wing.

As it stands, Halfpenny got Cardiff off to a good start scoring after a Ritchie Rees break, and Blair converting. However Sale replied with a try and penalty, although Macleod has missed a penalty and conversion.
