BMW World provided the spectacular backdrop to the Intel Racing Tour,
which stopped at the Bavarian automobile manufacturer's modern
experience and delivery centre for the first time this year. From 4th
to 8th August, "drivers" were able to step into the role of Nick
Heidfeld or Robert Kubica in one of six driving simulators, where they
then endeavoured to finish in the top ten for each day. The
participants with the fastest lap times secured a place in the final,
which was held last Friday.
Andreas Leicht, from Leipzig, was unbeatable in the final round, and
was rewarded with an Intel notebook in the exclusive BMW Sauber F1 Team
design. Second place went to Jochen Frömel, from Moosburg an der Isar,
who is now the proud owner of a Platinum Membership of the BMW Sauber
F1 Team Race Club. Daniel Seibert, from Munich, finished third and
received a voucher for the BMW Shop at BMW World.
The final of the event was presented by "Morning Man" Mike Thiel and
Karsten Wellert from the Munich radio station Gong 96.3. Daily
announcements on the "Morning Show" and draws for final wildcards
helped to guarantee the success of the event.
Intel, Official Corporate Partner of the BMW Sauber F1 Team, has been
bringing the unique atmosphere of Formula One to shopping centres and
selected events since 2007. At the grand finale last year, the overall
winner of the Intel Racing Tour received a BMW Z4 M Coupé.
This week, the Intel Racing Tour continues at the games convention in
Leipzig. A return to the BMW World is planned for next year.
