August 1 2008
In the first practice session for the Hungarian Grand Prix, the BMW Sauber F1 Team drivers completed their preparation programme without encountering any problems. Robert Kubica finished seventh on the time sheets, with Nick Heidfeld finishing ninth.
In hot conditions, but with overcast skies, it was a successful start to the Hungarian Grand Prix weekend for the BMW Sauber F1 Team. It's a well-known fact that the Munich and Hinwil based squad mainly focuses on preparations for the race during Friday's practice sessions. Nonetheless, Robert and Nick both set competitive lap times and secured top-ten positions.

Nick was the slightly busier driver of the pairing, with Robert being fractions faster. Robert completed a total of 18 laps comprising three stints, and clocked his personal best time on his eighth lap. The Pole clinched seventh by crossing the line in 1:22.267 minutes.

Nick lapped the 4.381-kilometre circuit 22 times. Unlike his team-mate, the German set his personal best time in the closing stages of the session: with just one minute remaining, on his 21st lap, Nick clocked a 1:22.370-minute lap to finish ninth. The fastest lap of the session was set by Ferrari's Felipe Massa in 1:20.981 minutes.

In the second 90-minute practice session, beginning at 14:00hrs local time (13:00hrs BST), the BMW Sauber F1 Team drivers will continue their preparations for the remainder of the weekend
