Intensive practice work in Monaco
By BMW Sauber F1 Team
May 22 2008
In the second practice session for the Monaco Grand Prix, the BMW Sauber F1 Team drivers carried out an extensive testing programme. Robert completed 34 laps, while Nick lapped the "Circuit de la Principauté" 44 times. Flying bollards, lost rear wings and damaged front sections: The second practice session at the "Circuit de la Principauté" witnessed plenty of incidents.
However, the 90-minute session was free of any major accidents. It was only when Fernando Alonso (Renault) hit the barriers, removing his rear wing, that the red flags were brought out for three minutes. The BMW Sauber F1 Team drivers did not cause any additional work for their pit crew, as they continued their scheduled preparation work for Saturday's qualifying and Sunday's race without any technical problems.

In the closing stages of the session, Robert completed two short stints. He used this opportunity to set a personal best time of 1:16.296 minutes, thereby taking sixth position on the time sheets on his 24th lap. Nick spent plenty of time on the track as he had to make up the time he lost due to a technical problem in session one. The fastest of his 44 laps was clocked at 1:16.426 minutes, which gave the German 11th place in the final classification.

Friday of the Monaco Grand Prix weekend traditionally represents a day of rest. Therefore, we will have to wait until Saturday to witness Robert and Nick completing their preparations for qualifying and the race. The third practice session will start on Saturday morning at 11:00hrs local time (10:00hrs BST).
