At the maiden F1 event in Valencia Robert Kubica finished third. It is the eighth podium for the BMW Sauber F1 Team in 2008 and the fifth this season for the Pole. Kubica started the European Grand Prix from third on the grid. Team mate Nick Heidfeld slid from eighth to ninth immediately after the start and did not score in Spain. More..

Kubica secures podium
In the first European GP in Valencia, Robert Kubica secured third place for the BMW Sauber F1 Team. Nick Heidfeld, however, who encountered a difficult Grand prix and finished ninth.

BMW Sauber F1 Team driver Robert Kubica delivered a fine qualifying performance in Valencia and secured third position on the grid for tomorrow's European Grand Prix. Nick Heidfeld was eighth.

Both BMW Sauber F1 Team drivers had a trouble free first day on the new street circuit round the harbour area of Valencia, which received compliments from every direction.
Busy practice in Valencia
BMW Sauber drivers were among the busiest in Valencia's 2nd practice session. Both Kubica and Heidfeld did extensive preparation programmes and eventually finished eighth and eighteenth respectively.
Promising start
The first session on Valencia's all new Formula One circuit proved to be a rather busy one. While Robert Kubica finished sixth on the time sheets, Nick Heidfeld had to settle for 16th position.
